Types Of Classes

Circuit Training

A varied cocktail of exercises working on strength, stamina, suppleness, speed and co-ordination and balance. Through all my classes now there will be emphasis on postural awareness and core stability, as I believe these are key aspects of all-round fitness. Sessions at the Fitness Centre make use of the variety of CV machines andI use an assortment of equipment, including stability balls, BOSUs and Reebok core boards. The essential feature of circuit training is that everyone really does work at their own pace and level... with no shortage of fun along the way!

Posture Plus

This addresses the needs of people who feel unable to cope with a mainstream gym class, and who may be physically less able. The pace is gentle; individual needs are built in to the class format... and the benefits class members feel as a result are great. I have a wheelchair-users' exercise bike, as well as a comfortable back-supporting recumbent bike, and there is good wheelchair access to the gym.

Senior Active

Here, we are following a circuit format, but again, the pace is gentle to be appropriate to the needs of the class; having said that, one long-standing member of this class recently ran her first half marathon!

Pilates Starter Class

This class was born out of the desire of circuit training class members to focus more closely on the postural benefits of Pilates. As the name implies it as an introductory level, and the only class for which I would ask you to phone me first, so that I can best accommodate your needs or current experience into the group. If you have done Pilates before, I will suggest you join one of the regular Pilates classes, so please call first.

Sports Massage and Exercise Therapy

These two really go together as I find myself more and more using a combination of both, rather than stand-alone massage. I am very happy to do routine or remedial massage, and pre- and post- event work, and if you like to lie on the couch and drift off that's fine. However, chances are you can do a lot to help yourself in between sessions, with suitable stretching and exercises, to which I will introduce you.

If necessary I have my fellow practitioners at the Syston and Leicester Sports Injuries Clinics for cross referencing. If you are recovering from injury and looking for relevant and effective rehabilitation programmes, again, I can help with whatever combination of soft tissue work and exercise.
